There are many programs Tarragon Theatre offers for teachers and youth to help capture the freedom of performance and learning best practices in theatre arts.

School workshops

Learning

Led by theatre artists who are experienced youth facilitators, these workshops provide opportunities for you and your students to deepen and further your in-class, workshop learning. Tarragon is excited to offer online / digital workshops as well as in person programming for you and your students.

East of Tarragon Theatre

Youth Building Theatre

The East of Tarragon program is designed to help young people and community members gain a deeper understanding of themselves and others through storytelling. It is a launchpad for young creators and affirms that their ideas are valued and their perspectives are important.

Weekday Matinees

For Schools and Groups

Weekday Matinee’s are available for schools and group bookings for all of our performances, beginning the first week after Season Opening. Make sure to plan ahead to get your group the best seats in the house. Contact us to learn more about our available pricing options for all shows and any specific performance schedules.

Training and Professional Development

Tarragon provides support for creative growth and opportunities for practical professional development. We offer courses in elements of playwriting, dramaturgy, directing, scene study, and physical theatre with some of the best practitioners in the field.

Courses

Physical Theatre Creation Weekend Intensive with Andy Massingham

Andy’s workshop at Tarragon is geared toward the experienced artist who is interested in creating new, physically-based theatre pieces. Exercises utilizing clown, pantomime and movement to tap your creative centre.

Young Playwrights Unit

Programs

The Young Playwrights Unit (YPU) is a paid training experience for young artists (aged 18-28) who are curious and passionate about playwriting. This program offers a group of dedicated young creators a rigorous and supportive context in which to develop some of their first works.
